Using a flipped classroom approach, in this session participants gains knowledge on how to effectively plan and prepare their hiring processes as well as assess and select candidates by utilizing the bench-marked best practices that are used in the University.

This workshop provides information on how to effectively plan and prepare for your hire by utilizing a consistent, fair and transparent process for every hire. This includes the development of a robust hiring plan, creating effective tools and interview materials, support on how to accurately assess candidates, development of behaviour-based interview questions and interview guide development best practices.

In this session, managers will be able to:

  • Effectively plan and prepare for an interview by selecting the appropriate style and structure;
  • Compose behavioural and competency-based interview questions and identify prohibited interview questions;
  • Appropriately assess and select candidates while remaining compliant with legislation and collective agreements; and
  • Develop a solid understanding of acquisition practices at York.

Who Should Attend: This course is for all levels of newly hired and existing York CPM managers and HRBPs. Essential for all managers, this offering provides the technical knowledge managers require to understand and deliver on York’s culture, policies, procedures, and managerial expectations.
